Thanks Nancy - I will take a look at the new blog as soon as I finish up everything for the BS blogging contest. I am adding up entries and will be drawing a winner in the next few hours. This is part of the work that I lost with the HD crash. The good thing is that all the entries were recorded in saved emails and online, so the winner will be announced soon.

Jim,

I feel for you. I'm having more than a little grief with the mechanics of setting up my site, but as you can see from my e-mail address, I do have a start. I'm not promoting the site yet, but do have a starter page up if you would like to take a look.

Barbara, thanks for the empathy. I'm already recovering! And Justin, thanks for the recommendation.

BTW, when I said daily backups, I definitely meant an automated system. However, the mirrored hard drive has some risks when connected to the same computer. I'm not going to bore you with the details, but I did have a mirrored hard drive on this computer and lost the data on BOTH drives. So I will be arranging for a redundant backup systems that also provides off-site file backup.

[Justin - I just read your excellent post on GeekDaily.net about my computer frustrations. And I see that you had already recommended in your post the need for a second, off-site backup! Great minds think alike.]

OUCH!!!! Oh wow, lots of empathy - that sounds like the week from heck indeed.

I would agree with Justin that getting a second hard drive and mirroring your information is the way to go - that's how we set up our home network.

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2257164,00.asp
might be useful.

Hang in there, as my mom would say,

The Light At The End of the Tunnel...
Is Really...
A Train
Coming At You.

Tomorrow is another day, I hope it's better for you.

Best wishes,

Barbara

Yeah, you say you will do daily backups but how long will that last? I think I stuck with it for a week.

Get a second harddrive and get some mirroring software, then you don't have to worry about it and you can't forget to do the backup.
